I shamelessly admit that I am a Gleek, mostly because I like their renditions of different songs...oh and Puck is fiiine. While their versions are fun and pop-esque, my heart really lies with unique covers of hit songs. I tend to even like them better than the originals. It takes some pretty amazing artists to recreate a song into something quite spectacular. I believe that with a different sound it can actually give a song a whole new meaning.
