hot cocoa

Boy, oh boy! The temperature sure has dropped. I've been piling on the layers, turning up the heat, and watching my breath float in the air, which I still think is the neatest thing. It's days like today when a batch of hot cocoa is the perfect thing to warm up my insides. There's something about the chocolate goodness that brings so much happiness to my heart. It's wrapping my hands around the warm mug, inhaling the steam, and watching little marshmallows float in a pool of sweetness.

Here is a recipe from Food Network that will be keeping me warm all winter long...

Ingredients:
2 cups of powdered sugar
1 cup of cocoa
2 1/2 cups of powdered milk
1 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of cornstarch
1 pinch of cayenne pepper
Hot water

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and incorporate evenly. In a small pot, heat 4 to 6 cups of water.
Fill your mug half full with the mixture and pour in the hot water. Stir it up. Seal the rest in a trusty airtight container and store in your pantry for all the chilly days of winter. I like to use milk instead of water because it's creamier. Yum!
