hair care favorites

Ever since I chopped my hair off last year, I have rediscovered how fun it is to style my hair. If you didn't know, I gave myself a quarantine cut last March. It was a little scary hacking off almost 10 inches of hair, but most of all it was super liberating. I have no regrets.

Since I actually enjoy styling my hair again, I wanted to share some products and tools that I use.

When it comes to hot tools, I use three. I've been using this curling iron for awhile now. It's extremely affordable, different temperature settings, and the 1 " barrel is perfect for creating messy curls. I do have a video on how I style my hair, but the trick is to not curl the ends!

While I prefer the messy curl look, I do like straightening my hair sometimes. I've been using this straightener for over ten years now, so I can attest to the quality of the product. It heats up fast, easily straightens my hair, and leaves my hair shiny. Also, the narrower size allows me to create curls, as well as straighten.

I love my pink blowdryer. Not only is it super cute, but it has truly cut my drying time in half (and I used this with my long hair too). There are various heat and speed settings, and I especially love the detachable nozzle for a salon-quality blowout. I also use this round brush for my blowouts. The 43 mm is the perfect size for my hair, but they also have a smaller and larger size.

To go along with these hot tools, I use this heat protectant before I put heat on my hair. This one has great ingredients, including keratin and jojoba oil. I really like the smell that the fact that it is a UV protectant.

One product I can not go without is a dry shampoo. I wash my hair twice a week, as my hair doesn't really get oily and can really hold a style. However, I still like it to feel and smell clean. I'm obsessed with this dry shampoo! It doesn't leave a white residue, smells super clean, and is designed to mimic actual shampoo. I swear by this stuff.

Another product that I use just about every day is this texture spray. It adds volume to my roots and gives the perfect amount of grit for a tousled look or a fun up-do. This has an ultra-light hold, but gives my hair texture. I use this in place of hairspray (again, my hair holds a style well).

This tint is more for fun, but I really like it when I want to temporarily switch things up. The rose gold color is super pretty and you can control how intense you want it to be. It does wash out after three washes, fading each time. If you want a more intense color, I suggest spraying it onto dry hair and letting it sit longer than the directions say to. This only works on lighter hair, so don't waste your time if you have dark hair. I have darker hair with lighter highlights and it worked on my lighter pieces when I followed the method I suggested.

The last product I want to mention are these silk scrunchies. They are designed to be slept in (although I wear them throughout the day too), as their purpose is to reduce friction. They definitely help keep my hairstyles intact. They are super comfortable and the size is perfect to hold my hair. I don't struggle with two times around being too loose and three times around being too tight dilemma. They're perfect. They come in a set of three pretty colors.
