wake up and work out

It's 6 AM, my alarm goes off. I feel my pups sleeping quietly against me and see Boyfriend in dream land next to me. I let out a little groan. The last thing I want to do is get out of this bed, especially in the winter when there's a draft in the room. I wish the covers could stay glued to me as I slide out of bed and begin my morning routine: wake up, work out, work.

Yes, I could go to the gym after work. I choose mornings because...
  • the gym is too crowded when the workday ends. I like my space.
  • it's like my morning coffee, without all the sugar in a Starbucks drink.
  • it gets my endorphins pumping, putting me in a better mood right at the get-go.
  • it kicks my metabolism in gear for the whole day.
  • after work I just want to go home, cook dinner for Boyfriend and me, and relax.

A lot of you have been asking how to become an early morning gym person, so I thought I would give you some tips on how I got started. It will become so habitual, that it will feel weird not to wake up and go. Honest!

I hope this helps you become an early bird and a morning gym lover!

  1. I wish I was a morning person, but sadly I am not. I do my workouts on an afternoon or evening which suits my schedule and luckily it fits in fine with the rest of my "things to do".

The tips you listed are great. I think when you enjoy exercising, like you do, it doesn't seem like such a chore to do it.

  2. Hi Brianna, I have a question for you - when do you squeeze in your shower? Do you do it the night before, before heading to the gym or after your workout? I'm trying to get back in the habit of waking up early for booty calls and need to figure out to to work it all in!

    Thanks :)
